I have just released version 1.2.1 of Think, my Mind mapping html5 web app.
It is a minor release with thought saving UI feedback. Whenever you save a thought, the status of the save is displayed to the right of the thought menu. If an error occurs and the thought fails to save, you will be informed.
I added this functionality because I can't track down a bug that occurs intermittently when saving thoughts. So when I am dog-fooding Think, I will know when the bug is occurring, allowing me to track it down on the spot.

Interesting app! Nice use of HTML5, jQuery and co.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what your long term plans are but here are a couple of ideas anyway:
1. It would be neat if links provided to nodes would be transformed to anchors automagically.
2. Forming connections for power users -> hold ctrl and click target (toggles connection state). The current way feels a bit clunky. :)
3. The connections are kind of chunky. Perhaps it would be nice if there was some option to configure the width.
4. Node groups (group can be folded on demand). Optimally this should be recursive so you can have groups inside groups etc.
5. More data types (ie. DnD images on nodes?) and better formatting options (ie. *bold* or something).
Overall I think the app is headed to the right direction. If you have the source available somewhere publicly, I can take a look at some of the "issues" mentioned above.
Hi Juho,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment.
1.
I plan to do this in the future.
2.
Thats a very good idea. I'll add it to my todo list.
3.
I will take note of this one.
4.
This sounds like a good idea but I would only implement it if I could think of a very user-friendly way to do so.
5.
These are good ideas too but I would only be implement such functionality if there is many Think users wanted such features.
I appreciate the offer of a code review but at this point in time I am not sure whether I will try to monetize Think or release it with an Open source license.
Thanks for your feedback and suggestions, for you have revealed some blindspots in my design for Think.
Hi Ashley ,
ReplyDeleteGreat work. I was wondering what struck into your mind creating mindmap as a webApp.
I had a few questions regarding your app.
1)Please tell me the kind of research you did behind this.
2)Secondly can some thing like could be developed using java or EXTJS or EXT GWT. Please share your feedback.
